High pressure radiator for MAN vehicles

The MAN TGX, TGA, TGS high-pressure cooler is used to improve engine performance. As the temperature decreases, air increases in density and thus in its mass volume. Cooler and denser air improves engine performance. A difference of just ten degrees Celsius increases air density by about 3-5%, which translates into a similar increase in engine power. Commonly used high-pressure coolers in vehicles reduce the temperature of the charge air by up to 40%.

Operation of the MAN TGX, TGA, TGS high-pressure cooler

The charge air cooler works in a similar way to the fluid cooler. The air coming out of the compressor goes to a thick pipe, from where it is transferred to the radiator, which is cooled with atmospheric air (hence its location near the front bumper). The air, which gives off heat in the high-pressure cooler, finally enters the cylinder. It is worth emphasizing that what distinguishes the high-pressure cooler from the liquid cooler is the lack of fans.
